Greetings Friends!
Welcome to the Northwest Arkansas Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. website. The chapter was chartered on November 22, 1998 by nineteen goal driven, tenacious and phenomenally talented women. These young ladies sought to impact the NWA community by leading as examples. Today members of the chapter continue the legacy of the 22 founders of the organization and 19 charter members of the chapter by organizing and implementing public service activities within Benton and Washington Counties, supporting the welfare and education of minority students through scholarships, and promoting a sense of family through acts of kindness toward all living in the Northwest Arkansas community.
For more than 10 years, the Northwest Arkansas Area Alumnae Chapter’s signature programs have been its youth initiatives, Delta Academy and Delta GEMS. These programs allow members of the chapter to mentor and empower young ladies ages 11-18 to dare to be great and be all that they aspire to be in life. The chapter continues to provide scholarships for undergraduate and graduate level minority females graduating from high schools in the NWA community. As mental health continues to be heavily discussed in the workplace, schools and homes, the chapter has accepted the call to be a voice in the community by sponsoring opportunities for open dialogue about the disease process. On the organizations 105th birthday, January 13, 2018, chapter members hosted a program to support the Grand Caril School in Haiti; an impoverished school with a huge need for toiletries, school supplies, and food. Money and supplies were collected from community resources and then delivered to the school at the end of January by charter member Kirstie Sims.
As we move forward in the 21st century, the chapter will continue to do good by and for others. We welcome you to join us through monetary contributions, in-kind donations, and most importantly support of our programs and participating in events. We hope that you will visit our website often as there will be frequent updates and opportunities on our calendar for collaboration and support of our programs/events throughout the year. For more information regarding the national organization, please visit the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. website at deltasigmatheta.org.
We look forward to seeing you, working with you, and wish bountiful blessings upon you.
